Enhance Your Life With Ceremonial Blessings - Part 1
by Master Jenny T. Liu, M.A.

Blessing ceremonies are done primarily for two reasons. Number one is to release negative energies. Negative energies in a house are created if the previous owner passed away in the home due to an illness, accident or injury that is connected to very negative events; or if the previous owners experienced extreme misfortune in the house such as bankruptcy, miscarriage, divorce or fire disaster.

The second reason for a blessing is to give thanks to the earth and thanks to the cosmic and universal energies, so that we can reinforce our connection with the universe and the natural laws. We ask the universal powers to bring blessings to our home so that we can make wishes for our future, our business, our children, our prosperity and for our partners.

There are also events that benefit from blessing ceremonies including the groundbreaking of a new building, a new project, extensive remodeling, a grand opening for a new business, a special event, an auction and moving into a new house or office, to name a few.

A very important time to do a house blessing is when bringing a baby home for the first time. Babies are extremely sensitive and have just come from the astral world, so they are very sensitive to spiritual energies. It is important to purify the house of all negative energies. If there are negative energies in the home, you might find the child crying a lot or they might feel scared, insecure and unstable, which can influence the parent/child relationship.

Most importantly, blessing ceremonies are necessary when feng shui adjustments on the physical level are not enough. If you’ve made the correct adjustments and you still sense heavy, negative energy, then control has gone beyond the physical environment into another dimension and requires a blessing ceremony. Energies that are considered beyond the physical realm are death (especially if it is a very negative death) suicide, substance abuse, physical abuse, chronic abuse, lawsuit, miscarriage and bankruptcy. A building can also be haunted by negative energies because it stands on historical land or a burial ground.

Feng Shui has become so popular that one of the most popular things now is called “feng shui clearings.” There are many types of cultural clearings that can be done by using sandalwood incense, sage, fire, candles or crystals - all of which have a certain effect. The effect will vary depending on the situation, the type of blessing used, and the energy of the person performing the blessing. If the blesser’s energy is very weak or negative, then the blessing will be weak. If their energy is very pure, strong and they do a lot of meditations, then the effect will be stronger.

The type of blessings we perform are based on traditional Chinese blessings. Prior to a blessing ceremony, there are several things that need to be done, depending on what type of blessing it is. Based on your birth chart and what elements promote you, we find an auspicious date that corresponds to your strong elements and favored planet alignment. An auspicious date allows you to absorb maximum positive energy. We then empower water (making holy water) and a bowl of uncooked rice. Mantra charms are created that will be placed in special directions during the ceremony. Incense, mudras, special mantras for wealth, health, scholarship, and release of negative energies will be chanted to empower the building or the items.

Special tools are used for the blessing and empowerment as well, and the client is asked to prepare special food offerings. Each food has a symbolic meaning to enhance the blessing. We use lucky numbers of apples for peacefulness, oranges for wealth, bananas for abundance and so forth. Usually, a whole chicken (including the head and feet) or a whole fish are also offered. If it’s a large ceremony for a large building or an entire complex, we offer an entire pig. Cake for rising business and red wine for celebration are also presented.

With the right energy and intention, a blessing enhances happiness and prosperity for all who reside in the building.
