Accuracy of 2009 Forecast – Part 2

     Following is a continuation of last week’s article in which we pointed out a few of the many events that were forecasted to occur in 2009. My father, Grand Master Chi-Jen Liu, and I were able to accurately forecast these events using the Flying Nine Star Charts, the Chinese Almanac (Tong Shu), Book of Changes (Yi-Jing), and the Zi Wei astronomy charts.

SOUTH
The Wood Star 4 is associated to the female scholar. Because Star 4 was in the south in 2009, we forecasted that female achievers and entertainers in these regions would receive accolades. One of the most notable was Kim Yu-Na of South Korea who won the world figure skating championship in Los Angeles, Southern California. Holding the world title, she set a skating record scoring 207.71. This was the first time a female skater scored over 200.

The wood energy of Star 4 promoted the fire energies of the south. We predicted that a rise of economic and political power in southern regions would likely be supported by the countries of the southeast, represented by Star 4. Indeed, China has invested tens of billions of dollars in Africa, ranging from oil, mining, lumber, and banking, to the construction of dams, highways, airports, and housing. Harry Hurt III of the New York Times also explained that the authors of “China Safari” contend, “China’s ambitions in Africa are grandly geopolitical as well as economic.” In his article, he quotes Jacob Wood, a Shanghai-born housing developer based in Africa for more than 30 years: “I’m going to be honest with you, China is using Africa to get where the United States is now, and surpass it.”

In the climate and natural disaster arena, Star 4 is associated to storms and the southeast direction. The accompanying sitting Star 1 defeated by facing Star 8 brought polluted waters caused by landslide and flood. We forecasted that this could bring disease and problems with dams, sewage lines, and flood control channels to southern regions. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society reported that heavy rains, flash floods, storms, and landslides caused devastation across southern and eastern Asia. In the southeastern United States, shocking photos of houses in Georgia flooded up to their rooftops in brown muddy water on September 22, 2009, made headlines in the Chicago Tribune.

Around the same time, South Indian floods in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka were the worst to have occurred in 100 years.

In Southern California, flooding was caused by water lines bursting, also in the month of September. Ironically, pipes started bursting in June when water rationing was instigated in efforts to conserve water. Because water was restricted from use, it placed a surge of more water in the old pipelines, which caused them to burst and actually waste more water and create more expense using tax dollars for repairs.

EAST
With the Star 7 associated to military power and violence, we forecasted that there would be a clash of ambitions and political conflicts in eastern regions such as China, Japan, Taiwan, Tibet, and Russia, or along the eastern coast of the United States.
