Annual
Cycle: The
annual cycle refers to the change in the nine star chart that occurs every
single year. Due to these changes it is necessary to make annual
adjustments in our feng shui.
Auspicious Date:
A compatible
date, based on our birth charts, in which the planets are aligned in our
favor.
Ba Gua (bah gwah):
Eight
trigrams and eight directions arranged in the shape of the octagon. Each
side includes a trigram, which is a symbol holding multiple facets of meanings and
associations. Based on your birth date and the ba gua, calculations determine which direction
is most
compatible with you.
Birth Chart: An astrology
chart based on your birth information. The one we particularly use is
known as zi wei do shu birth chart which is based on your
year, month, day, hour and place of birth. It calculates over 116 stars and
their positions when you were born. Each star has a certain energy and
depending on which direction they were in when you were born, this unique
energy impacts your life.
Charm: An
object that has been empowered by your subconscious to bring you a specific
desire or need.
Chi (chee):
The universal life force that
is in everything and connects everything. Also written as "qi".
Chi Art (chee ahrt):
Feng
shui chi art is one of the most effective feng shui adjustments
you can implement. These special paintings by Grand Master Liu Chi
Jen are exceptionally empowered and are a unique art that is a combination of
mantras, symbols, colors, numerology, five elements, and the Nine Stars.
Deeply encoded with the principles of the Yi-Jing, or law of nature, these
images are created to enhance our personal energies and adjust our feng
shui in specific ways. There is a great variety of Chi Art
available, depending on your personal needs and desires. Commissioned
pieces can be created to match your personal energies and are
particularly effective as they are synchronized with your personal energies.

Compass Evaluation: A
special feng shui compass called luopan (loo oh pahn), is used to calculate the
orientation of a house or building. This is a special compass that allows
the feng shui Master to understand the sitting and
facing orientation of
the building as well as the surrounding environment (landscape, mountains,
hills).
Cosmic: Energies
relating to stars, planets and the universe as a whole.
Empower:
To
use subconscious mind energy to inform an object, place, or person
with certain powers.
Facing Direction:
When you are standing in front of the house facing the
street, that
is known as the facing direction. It is important to remember this is not
necessarily the orientation of the front door. Facing direction of a stove is the direction
the door opens out to, the direction behind the person when cooking.
Factors: The environmental
influences that affect our energies including personal factors, home
and office factors, the exterior
environment, and the cosmic energies. Please
refer to Energy Factors for a list of environmental influences.
Feng Shui (fong schway):
Please
refer to Feng Shui Overview.
Five Elements: Everything
around us is categorized into the five elements of fire, wood, water, earth
and metal. These five elements are simply phases of elements - different
frequencies of energies. They
allow us to understand basic cycles of nature.
Grand Cycle:
A 60-year
cycle based on the nine star charts. There are 9 sets of charts.
Each of these 9 charts indicates annual energies, as well as 20-year cycle
energies. When these 9 charts are divided into 3 charts, we have 3 sets of 20-year
cycles which make up a 60-year cycle. So there are 3 grand cycles each composing
of 60 years.
Grand Master: Somebody
who has lived over half of their life in the area in which they teach,
making them an expert in this area. The title is given when many disciples or
students under them have achieved a Master's metal and are also
experts in their area. A Grand Master also usually has expertise in multiple
fields.
Grand View Approach:
A world
view based on the universal laws of nature. It is to see different aspects
of life from a greater perspective and to see it within the context of
everything else around it. A Grand View Approach is not only to see an aspect or topic as solely by
itself, but to see how one thing is connected to everything
else. For
instance, to use a grand view approach, you can not only do a feng shui analysis on
a building itself, but you must also take into account the analysis of the
exterior environment and the cosmic
energies of each individual who lives within the house.
Karma: Karma
is destiny from cause and effect. What you did in a previous life
and what you do in this life all comes back to you. Karma is energy
that is not destroyed, or that disappears. Your energy accumulates
to bring either luck or disaster.
Mantra (mahn' trah):
A chant or frequency that channels special cosmic energies with different
purposes.
Mantrawear: Clothes
that have mantras, symbols drawn on the front or back. They are
often used for enhancing health, love, wealth, or protection.
Master: In
Chinese "sifu" means Master - a person who has the wisdom and
knowledge to be a teacher. The person has mastered an area of studying so that they
have the ability to pass on the information to others.
Mudra (moo' drah):
Special
configurations done with the hands and arms similar to yoga poses that help amplify
one's energies and channel one's cosmic energies. They are
usually done with mantra chanting.
Nine Star Calculation:
Based
on the year a building was established, or last renovated, you can calculate its
nine star chart to indicate the planetary effects on different orientations of
the building.
Numerology:
Every number has a specific frequency and is
associated with a different element, creating a unique effect. Calculations
of names and addresses can be done to find out its effect and if it is
compatible to a
person's energy.
Orientation: The
orientation
of a building includes the energy that is in front of it and the energy that is
behind it. The facing and sitting orientation of a
building.
Qi (chee):
Chinese
word representing universal life force that connects and is in everything. Also written as "chi".
Qi Gong (chee' kung):
Exercise
and meditations used to cultivate, strengthen the personal mind power and
personal chi energies within our body. The art of cultivating and harnessing
personal chi to help enhance personal energies. The transfer of energy to
ourselves and others
for healing.
Sitting Direction:
The sitting direction is
usually the opposite direction of the facing direction. It will be the
direction behind you, when you are facing the street standing in front of
your house for instance.
Yi-Jing Theory (yee
zheeng):
Considered the bible of natural laws.
Yin-Yang Theory: The
concept
of creating balance between opposite, yet complementary sources of energy.
Zi Wei Do Shu Astrology Chart (zee way doh shoo):
Calculates
positions of over 116 stars at a specific time. It requires month, day,
year and time of birth to do the calculation. When properly interpreted, its
accuracy is about 80-90%. None-the-less, it is viewed only as a statistical
record giving us an overview, or guideline, of our life's energy. Zi Wei
covers 12 aspects of our life: personality, parents/ancestors, fortune,
property, career, friendships, travels, health, money, children, marriage,
and siblings. |
